Product is a hand made knife. All measurements and weights approximate.
Knife legend Bob Loveless designed the Chute Knife at the behest of paratrooper Harry Archer. It is a short combat knife with a thick blade, not a hunting knife. The swage runs half the spine. The swage on his rare Mini-Wilderness model runs the full spine, a more difficult knife to produce. The fully ground spine results in a chute knife with greater fighting capability but sacrifices spine flat that might otherwise be used for batoning.
The blade on this knife is mirror finish Böhler 440C Tool Steel, professionally tempered to HRC 58. The hilt is made of AISI 430 stainless steel. Value added features include Rams Horn handle scales, a tapered tang with white liners, a steel cylinder-lined lanyard hole and brass/steel Loveless Bolts. Rams Horn is a natural material and the handle scales are not symmetric (see photos). Expansion and contraction is normal with many handle scale materials, including Rams Horn, and you can feel the exposed tang with your hand due to contraction.
There is a lined wood box. We recommend against storing the sheath near the blade (including in the box with the blade).
Note that because the swage is sharp, this will run afoul of most state dagger laws and be illegal to carry in public!
Things to Consider Before Ordering:
1) Check with your local laws to determine the legality of all items ordered. Seller is not responsible for any items seized by customs or other authorities and will not knowingly make shipments to countries where any items are illegal. By placing an order, you are representing that you are an adult, the product(s) ordered are lawful in your local jurisdiction and that you will use the products in compliance with all applicable laws. You accept full responsibility and costs for all customs fees and VAT. Seller will not replace or refund any item confiscated by local authorities or customs agents.
2) These are handmade. There will be slight imperfections on most handmade work commensurate with its pricing. Mr. Ali's highest quality/grade/difficulty knives generally sell for $300 to $500 through other venues with Collector Grade Butterfly Sword pairs selling for up to $1,595.
3) Plain Language Disclaimer: Knives are inherently dangerous. Glass breakers are also very dangerous to the user and should be used only in cases of life or death and with protective gear. Swords with sharp edges are for display only and should not be used for martial arts training. Even blunt swords are dangerous. You agree that you won't sue the Seller, designer or maker for anything related to using this product for any reason whatsoever and you (and we) really mean it!
