Product is a hand made knife. All measurements and weights approximate. Knife legend Bob Loveless designed the Chute Knife at the behest of paratrooper Harry Archer. It is a short combat knife with a thick blade, not a hunting knife. The swage runs half the spine. The swage on his rare Mini-Wilderness model runs the full spine, a more difficult knife to produce. The fully ground spine results in a chute knife with greater fighting capability but sacrifices spine flat that might otherwise be used for batoning.
This knife is an outstanding example of the Mini-Wilderness. The blade is mirror finish Böhler D2 Tool Steel, professionally tempered to HRC 58. The hilt is made of AISI 304 stainless steel, which is the best steel for bolsters but too difficult to work with for even most top custom knife makers. Value added features include beautiful silky soft Walnut handle scales, a tapered tang with red liners, a steel cylinder-lined lanyard hole and brass/steel Loveless Bolts.
There is a lined wood box. We recommend against storing the sheath near the blade (including in the box with the blade).
Note that because the swage is sharp, this will run afoul of most state dagger laws and be illegal to carry in public!
