Product is a pair of custom designed Butterfly Swords, made by hand. The compound grind and recurve are extraordinarily difficult to do by hand and variations result therefrom are part of the beauty and value (like surgeon's cuffs on a fine suit), not defects. All measurements and weights approximate.
These graceful stabber style Butterfly Swords feature a compound grind consisting of adjacent concave grinds ending in a fine cutting edge most suitable for soft targets. The first grind is like the profile of a shallow bowl hollowing out the steel between the spine and intersection to the edge grind. This challenging combination of grinds is extraordinarily beautiful, a high point for even an accomplished custom knife maker. The grind is an aesthetic variation of a "true" Western saber grind, not the easy to do long flat grind that custom knife-makers like to call a "saber grind." The advantage of this complex grind is a reduction of weight accompanied by retained structural integrity. It is like a huge fuller.
The blade steel is Böhler D-2 weapons-grade stainless steel. They were designed by Jeffrey D. Modell of Modell Design LLC and made by Forgemaster K. Ali of Ironman Steel. Each blade has his personal logo.
The knives shown are what you will get so if you have any questions ask them before ordering. It would be best if customs only sees them once.
