Description: We designed this knife for a specialized military/law enforcement task, but if that's not your job it is fine for other uses. The Yagyu Fat Nose spine grind leaves a triangle of steel to support the tip but also facilitates fast extraction. The swage is blunt to permit batoning and avoid civilian environment dagger-law issues.
The blade is made of custom knife quality Böhler Uddeholm D-2 Tool Steel that has been professionally heat treated. D-2 Tool Steel is regarded by many experts as the best carbon steel for knives. It is used in dies that cut other steels and very resistant to corrosion for a carbon steel. Although it is a major pain to sharpen, D-2 takes a fine edge and holds it for a long time.
The Micarta handle scales were textured, and then brushed to reduce reflectivity. The steel, including the exposed tang, has been covered with matt black powder coat. We noticed a tiny scratch (still black coated) on the right side of the blade and therefore classified the knife as a second and reduced its price. Since powder coat wears heavily, if you plan on using the knife this very minor cosmetic flaw will rapidly become irrelevant.
